India Won T-20 World Cup
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team after India’s victory and said, “Many congratulations to India on behalf of all the countrymen for this magnificent victory.
Rohit Sharma said, “It is very difficult to summarise what we have gone through in the last 3-4 years. To be fair, we have worked really hard individually and as a team. A lot has happened behind the scenes to be here today and win this game.
It is not what we have done today, but it is what we have been doing for the last 3-4 years. This is the result that has come today.
We have played many high pressure games in the past and we have been the wrong team.
But the boys know what to do. Today was a perfect example of what is important when your back is against the wall. We as a team and we all stuck together, even when at one point South Africa looked to be on their way.”
The Indian captain further said, “Overall, as a team, as a group on the field, we wanted it badly. We wanted to win it. To win a tournament like this, a lot happens behind the scenes, a lot of effort, a lot of minds come together. I am very proud of the group of boys we have and the management for giving us the freedom to learn and play, follow, trust each one of us.
It has to start with the management, the coach, the captain and then the players will go out there and do it. Throughout the tournament, I felt we were fantastic.”
After making Team India the champion, Hardik said, ‘I am getting very emotional. The whole country was waiting for this victory. Especially if I talk about myself, I did not speak a single word in the last six months. Things were getting unfair, but I knew that a time would come when I would shine.
